ABOUT BRUCE
Bruce bought his first investment property in 1986 after reading Jan Somers' book “Own Your Own Home Years Sooner”. It was in the days when the bank manager drove past the prospective purchase on the way home, talked to your parents about your character and then approved the loan.
He bought a second one when a real estate agent told him of an opportunity, which he was lucky enough to be in a position to accept, thanks to a budget and a plan.
He bought another property while working for a listed company, ‘down a hole’ in Charters Towers. This was when offset accounts were just coming out and he spent some time teaching the local bank lender how they worked, as he wanted one.
Bruce was also building a share portfolio looking to grow wealth while working in the resources area, mostly chasing gold underground in narrow veins.
"For those of you who have spent long days 'down a hole’, or are currently in a financial hole, you realise it is something you cannot be doing for more than 20 years, and you need a way out. This was behind the drive to own assets and reduce debt. At the time, a number of mine workers would come and sit with me to find out how they went about buying a house, or purchasing an investment".
As part of a change of direction Bruce completed an 18 month post grad and completed his Masters of Business Administration at Melbourne University.
Bruce decided to get involved in his own business and spent 18 months with Westpac and then time with an accounting firm in Joondalup. In 2006 he was approached by an accounting firm in West Perth to come and sort out the Financial Planning business they had set up to look after their clients.
Bruce has worked with those accountants to set up what is today Altius Capital. The focus remains on assisting his clients find ways to achieve financial independence. He has recently become self licenced as this suits what he wants to do with clients who engage his service and he thinks being self licenced is the future for Financial Planners.
The person you are meeting at Altius Capital is only interested in your best interest and is in a position to tailor the advice to meet your specific needs and your goals, whatever they might be.
